Altered Art is simply the result of taking a found object and changing it in some intriguing or surprising way to make a statement of your own. This course will offer ideas, techniques and inspiration on how to turn found objects, old books, tins, boxes, clothing, scrap, etc into unique works of art. This is your invitation to discover the artistic possibilities that arise when we look upon familiar objects with fresh eyes. Students need to contact instructor (moonbeamstudio@gmail.com) before 1st class for a list of supplies. Some supplies will be provided. 42010.401CH

mosaic table top

I was recently commissioned to do a mosaic table top.  Here are before and after photos.  The original table was from Pottery Barn that after a couple of years in our Vancouver climate started to chip away.  Clearly the wrong materials were used.  The top I did is in glass tile on a sealed surface.  This will last a lot longer than the ceramic PB table.

steel sculpture

I realized I hadn't posted photos of any of my steel sculptures on the blog except one with the bags hanging off them.  They are a lot of fun to do.  The "Octopus Tree" is made from our old iron porch railings.  I spent countless hours forging them into their current shape.  I guess I have a thing for bendy steel.  The second sculpture is called "Chloris, Goddess of Flowers".
